On Saturday 14 May, seven of our students from Years 7–11 participated in the Rostrum Voice of Youth public speaking competition held at Immanuel College. Rostrum Voice of Youth is a national speaking competition which provides an excellent opportunity for secondary school students to gain experience and confidence in expressing their views and communicating a message. The standard of the competition was incredibly high, with many of the winning students delivering eight-minute speeches without reference to a single cue card. It was a delight to see such thoughtful and articulate young people in action. There were eight heats in the Junior category and five heats in the Senior category. All of our students confidently delivered beautifully crafted speeches. We are grateful to the amazing volunteers from Rostrum clubs all across South Australia who facilitated such an amazing learning opportunity for our students.
Congratulations to everyone who took part. It was very exciting to learn that two of our students have progressed to the semi-finals on Saturday 28 May. Well done to Rebecca (7KSPA) and Lily (10RSOM) – we wish you all the best.
