Luminary Lunch

On Friday 27 May, a group of 20 Year 5 students attended a Luminary Lunch at St Peter’s College. The students sat with a local illustrator – Danny Snell or Vaughan Duck, over a hot delicious lunch. The keynote speaker was Adelaide author Adam Cece. Each student dressed up as a character from one of their illustrator's books.

On arrival, the tables were decorated, the students and authors/illustrators walked the pink carpet, and they had a group photo taken with the guest that they were sitting with.

Students chatted with the illustrator, asked questions and had an opportunity to get their autograph booklets signed as well. One of the Concordia tables even won the best dressed table competition!

It was a wonderful excursion, enjoyed by all.

Some of the student comments included:

'I enjoyed meeting the different authors and illustrators. I loved the food.'
Bethany

'I enjoyed dressing up as a kookaburra and doing the cat walk. It was amazing to see Adam Cece and funny to try a new vegemite technique.'
Mackenzie

'I enjoyed the opportunity to hear about authors’ lives and I learnt a lot about writing. It was definitely an experience I will remember!'
Eliza R

'I really liked the quiz and Adam Cece’s keynote. I thought that the day was amazing and I would love to do it again.'
