This year we had several students take part in the 'My First Speech' competition organised by the Parliament of Australia. Students were asked to imagine themselves as a newly elected Member of the House of Representatives. Their task was to write a 90-second speech about issues they are passionate about, then record themselves presenting the speech on video. Entries were judged by several Members of Federal Parliament. A winner from each year - across Years 10, 11 and 12 - were invited to Canberra to deliver their speeches live and undertake a program of meetings at Parliament House.
We congratulate Juliana (11RGOG) who was one of six National Finalists in the Year 11 category. I would encourage our Senior School students to consider entering this competition in 2023.
