National Brain Bee Challenge Final and University Headstart Program

National Brain Bee Challenge Final

Luke (10JPID) this week participated in the National Final of the Australian / New Zealand Brain Bee Challenge in Melbourne. Along with the other national competitors, Luke has had weekly coaching sessions in neuroscience from Professors at Curtin and Monash Universities, to prepare for this prestigious competition. Students competed in four challenges held over two days – a neurophysiology test, a set of neuroanatomy questions involving the identification of structures of the brain, a clinical diagnosis section and a round of live questioning on stage. Students could also attend Australasian Neuroscience Society sessions and meet with scientists, researchers and students involved in the important field of neuroscience.

We congratulate Luke on this incredible achievement – competing on the national stage.

Headstart Program - Adelaide University Graduation

The University of Adelaide’s Headstart scholarship program gives high achieving students the opportunity to study at university while still in Year 12 and have these university studies count towards their SACE and ATAR. Two of our students participated this year, Isaiah (12CFIN) and Jaiden (12JLEY). Balancing university study while also undertaking Year 12 is a significant challenge. We congratulate these students on their laser-sharp focus, their brilliant time management and their outstanding performance in first year university subjects. They will be presented with their academic transcript on Thursday evening at a special graduation celebration at the University of Adelaide.
