This term, as part of our inquiry in Christian Studies and our 'Where We Are in Place and Time' unit, we have been investigating churches and working out why these are important places for Christians. We have had beautiful rich experiences, conversations and discussions to answer the following questions:
- What is a Christian?
- What is a church?
- Why do people go to church?
- What do people do at church?
- What are some of the features and symbols found inside a church building?
- What is the significance of these symbols to Christians?
- How can we care for these special places?
We have been privileged to visit some of our local churches and to talk with people who are passionate about sharing God’s love in our community. We are so thankful for all of the wonderful opportunities we have had to explore these special places and to grow a deeper understanding of Christian symbols, rituals and what it means to be part of a worshipping community.
