On Thursday 8 December, six of Concordia College’s eight 2023 Student Leaders attended the South Australian Lutheran Schools’ Student Leader Training Day. Together with other 2023 Student Leaders from Lutheran schools across the state (including as far afield as Port Lincoln) the students took part in a range of discussions and workshops designed to develop their understanding of leadership, teamwork and College culture and values.
The day was hosted by Faith Lutheran College in Tanunda, and began with a Devotion and opportunity to explore the sculpture park at Mengler Hill Lookout. The workshops and discussions took place in a range of locations within Faith Lutheran College, and after lunch (held at the College’s viticulture education centre), the students worked in small groups with Student Leaders from other schools to deepen their understanding of how to plan and structure an effective devotion, and to begin planning a Devotion that they can use this year.
The day provided plenty of opportunities for the students to network with the Student Leaders from the other schools, building relationships which will hopefully provide all students with additional support and ideas during this year. The students also enjoyed the opportunity to learn from leaders within Lutheran Education SA. Of course, the day would not have been complete without a quick stop at the Tanunda Bakery for afternoon tea on the way home.
It was a thought-provoking, inspiring and very enjoyable day.
"The LESNW Student Leader Training Day was an incredible opportunity for us to learn about the type of leaders we want to be. We were mentored by various leaders from Lutheran Education, who helped us to unpack our values and gave us advice from their own lives. It was an amazing event to connect with other Lutheran School Leaders and discuss how leadership operates at their schools, as well as share ideas on future initiatives for each school." - Alicia 12KNIC
"The LESNW Student Leader Training Day was an awesome opportunity to meet like-minded students and learn from very intelligent and wise mentors, who helped us to develop as individuals and as a team." - Henry 12CFIL
