The Oliphant Science Awards is a statewide competition open to all students from Years 7–12, and students at St John’s Campus (Years 2–6) as an extracurricular activity. After a very successful 2022 with many Concordia students entering the competition and receiving either prizes or high commendations, we are ready to start our preparation for the 2023 competition.
By participating, students can develop their interests in science through a range of categories, including:
- games
- models & inventions
- multimedia
- photography
- posters
- programming, apps & robotics
- scientific inquiry
- scientific writing.
Students work independently or in groups to conceive and complete scientific investigations and show their work to a broader audience with prizes for each category. Taking part in competitions like this through the schooling journey is a vital way to give students an advantage in the years ahead – not just learning new things and developing new skills, but also by demonstrating a willingness to go above and beyond. At the Primary School level, the Oliphant Science Awards provide an extension opportunity and a wonderful way for students to pursue their passions and develop new interests.
All projects need to be registered by Friday 12 May, 2023. Please visit our Enrichment and Extension sub-site for vital information and important dates specific to the Award at Concordia College.
