As we come back from some well-deserved rest, it’s time to get excited for the term ahead. It’s been a busy year so far in the Concordia Campus library, as we get used to the new space and new staff coming onboard.
Term 3 will be a very busy term, kicking off with National Science Week (Innovation: Powering Future Industries) - keep an eye out for some science-y reading recommendations.
The biggest week of the year (we like to think so) is also coming up - Book Week! The theme this year is ‘Read, Grow, Inspire’, and we are already in the thick of organising a range of events and activities to host between the 19th and 25th of August; including ‘uber reads’, the opening of MakerSpace, bookmarks you can plant, launching the school BookTok and more!
In the lead up to Book Week, we are also hosting a competition for students to guess the winners of the Children’s Book Council of Australia literary merit awards. Students will be encouraged to guess the winner and runners-up before the announcement on Friday 18 August, with prizes for those who guess correctly.
We will also be hosting Deb Abela as our Author-in-Residence from Monday 28 August to Friday 1 September. It's a real pleasure to host the author of the Max Remy: Super Spy and Grimsdon series, as she will be holding a few 'writer's workshops' with the students for the occasion.
Make sure to come into the library next term to see what's happening!
