Last night, not only did our Orchestra win their section for the second year running, but our String Ensemble won the Advanced Strings section for the eighth consecutive year (an oct-peat!) at the Australian Band and Orchestra Directors' Association (ABODA) state championships.
Under the direction of Martin Butler OA, and with support from Lee Pfitzner and Deanna Whelan, these two groups played at an exceptional level, even inspiring the adjudicators to want to play with them.
On Thursday, our Concernt Band also won their section.
Currently, our results are as follows:
- Chamber Strings - Silver Award
- Wind Ensemble - Silver Award
- String Ensemble - Overall Winner
- Orchestra - Overall Winner
- Concert Band - Overall Winner
A huge congratulations to all involved!
Big Band 1 and Big Band 2 take to the stage on Friday and we wish them all the best with their performances.
