On Monday 28 August the Stage 1 Geography class headed up to Belair National Park to develop their field work techniques and gather data to assess the bushfire risk of the area. Students looked at six different sites, exploring areas that have had a recent prescribed burn, a previous bushfire or areas that have not had any formal burn management in the last 10 years. They were able to look at fuel load, identify the dominant vegetation in the area and use ranging poles and clinometers to measure the slope of the various sites. It was a perfect weather day to get out and experience Geography in the world around us!
