Stage 2 Chemistry students have worked hard all year, so our last lesson was a time to celebrate and have a bit of a play with some demonstrations that linked into the Chemistry course.
- Dragon’s breath highlighted the different colours metallic salts produce when the electrons are excited by heat energy and then fall back down to their initial energy level and reminded students of principles of atomic spectra.
- Methane bubbles reviewed combustion and thermochemistry.
- We also investigated kinetic particle theory and properties of gases, and then became a little creative by making ice-cream with liquid nitrogen.
All the best for your exams Stage 2 Chemistry class of 2023. It’s been my absolute privilege to teach you.
