Our Year 8 students recently embarked on an engaging Science task, constructing electric cars using various components, including motors, batteries and gears. Working in small groups, they investigated how adding 50g masses affected the time it took for their cars to travel a set distance. Through experimentation and data collection, students gained insights into the scientific process and what makes a fair test. Following the experiments, they diligently compiled their findings into scientific reports, honing their communication skills.
This hands-on project not only fostered scientific inquiry but also promoted teamwork, critical thinking and problem-solving skills. We're very proud of our students' enthusiasm and the growth that has taken place. This project is just one component of our commitment to nurturing future innovators and leaders in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics).
