Rostrum Voice of Youth 2024 Success

We recently had seven students from Years 8-12 represent Concordia in the South Australian heats of Rostrum Voice of Youth. There were 182 students taking part this year from over 25 different schools. Our students were incredible and spoke with passion, purpose and polish. The students had to present prepared speeches of up to eight minutes and they also had to present three-minute short-notice speeches with just 15 minutes to prepare. The competition showcased some of the best young speakers in South Australia. From seven Junior Heats it was exciting to see two Concordia speakers win and proceed to the semifinals, which will be held this Saturday. Congratulations to Year 9 students Adele 9RBEN and Keziah 9CRID. Every single Concordia student shone brightly on the day. They were beautiful ambassadors for our school.

Interview with Tristan Bancks

Several students had the opportunity to gain some industry experience this week as they interviewed and filmed a conversation with the multi-award-winning Australian author Tristan Bancks. Students were mentored by our incredible Media staff and utilised Concordia’s amazing studio facilities. This interview will be available to view by students around Australia and beyond. More details coming soon.

Inspiration for Young Readers and Writers

Juvenilia Exhibition

The Juvenilia Exhibition brings together the juvenile works from some of Australia's most loved and established children's authors and illustrators, including Graeme Base, Andy Griffiths, Mandy Foot and Alison Lester. The exhibition will be available at Unley Civic Library during opening hours from Tuesday 18 June to Thursday 11 July 2024.

Unley Libraries is also hosting a Creatives Showcase. Meet and greet some of SA's best children's authors and illustrators, including Janeen Brian, Katrina Germein, Danny Snell and more! Ask about their creations from childhood, what it's like to be a published author/illustrator, the creative/publishing processes, and see what they're working on now.

This is the perfect event for budding writers and artists, those looking to become published and families who value rich children's literature. What a perfect opportunity to enrich the young writers and readers in your family. This event is for ages 5+ years.
