Announcement from the Head of College

Heartfelt thanks to Vera White, Director of Staff Administration ELC-12

Recently, I shared with our staff the news that Vera White, Director of Staff Administration ELC to 12, will complete her service at Concordia College at the end of this year.

Vera’s dedication, work ethic and passion for Concordia College have been outstanding. Her journey with us began in 2001 as a German teacher. Over the years, she has held various significant roles, showcasing her versatility and commitment:

  • 2003-2008: Head of LOTE
  • 2004: Director of Staff (replacement position)
  • 2006: Head of Senior School (replacement position)
  • 2009: IB Diploma Coordinator
  • 2010: Acting Director of Staff
  • 2011: Director of Staff, leading to her appointment as Director of Staff Administration ELC-12

In addition to these roles, Vera has been extensively involved with the IB as a marker, senior moderator, workshop leader in the SE Asia Region, and curriculum reviewer, demonstrating her commitment to continuous improvement and excellence in education.

Vera believes combining her passion for teaching with varied responsibilities as the College has grown and evolved from an approximately 600-student secondary school to a three-campus College with over 1500 students and 300 staff has been a privilege.

As we reflect on Vera’s tremendous contribution to the College, I want to emphasise our gratitude for her resolute dedication and selfless approach to her work. Vera has navigated complex issues with great skill and always sought the best outcomes for both individuals and the College.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to Vera for her passion and commitment. She will be dearly missed, and we wish her all the best in this significant life transition to partial retirement. Her legacy at Concordia will undoubtedly endure, and we are deeply grateful for all she has done.

Moving forward, we are excited to announce the reorientation of Vera’s role. The new position will be Director of People and Culture, emphasising the profound impact of HR processes on workplace culture and focusing on strategic HR planning and staff capacity building. The position is currently being advertised.
