Junior and Senior Academy Learning Conferences

We are looking forward to hosting the Junior and Senior Academy Learning conferences in Week 4 of this term (Junior Conference is on Tuesday 13 August and Senior Conference is on Wednesday 14 August). This is the 11th year Concordia has hosted these important events on the Adelaide gifted education calendar. They provide our highly able students with exposure to a wide range of topics aimed at stimulating thought beyond the constraints of the curriculum. The content is fast-paced, and students will benefit from university-lecture-style learning. The day will be facilitated by Julie Arliss - a well-known international educator of gifted students. She is on the examining team for Cambridge International Examinations and is a Farmington Scholar from Oxford University.

CARE@CC (Community of Advocates for Respect and Empathy)

We welcomed Amanda Shrowder as our guest speaker for our first session this term. She shared her passion for working in paediatric oncology nursing and inspired students with the diverse pathways possible in a nursing career. In our upcoming session on Friday 9 August, we will hear from a speaker who will share her personal experience of receiving a donated kidney. These stories have been profoundly impactful for our students, and we are always looking to provide them with more opportunities to learn from medical professionals. If you would be willing to share your own experiences, please make contact – we would love to have you. Please contact me to discuss.

Brain Bee State Final

Good luck to our six Year 10 students competing in the State Final of the Brain Bee Challenge at Flinders University on Friday 2 August. These students have answered over 16,000 questions about the brain to prepare for this event.
