A Celebration of Wind, Brass and Percussion
On Friday 9 August, students from our St John’s Concert Band, Senior Concert Band, Wind Ensemble, Brass Ensemble, Flute Ensemble, Percussion Ensemble and Clarinet Quartet gathered in the Chapel to perform for family and friends. The St John’s Campus students impressed all with their focus and benefitted from listening to the older groups perform, whilst the older students gained some great performance experience and practice for this week’s ABODA Festival, in which the Senior Concert Band is performing. Our smaller chamber ensembles all had exciting performances and showcased the different instrument families. Thank you to our highly accomplished Ensemble Directors Geoff Bradley, Sam Taylor and Kellie Rich, and to all other staff who came and assisted with the concert.
Balaklava Eisteddfod
On Friday, William 9MGAS, Cameron 10JROB, Moses 8SMAR and Nathan 9MGAS travelled to Balaklava to represent Concordia College in the Balaklava Eisteddfod in the Rock Band Category. While they unfortunately didn’t place, their musical talent shone through and presented the College exceptionally well.
We would also like to congratulate William 9MGAS for his First Place in the Intermediate ‘B’ Music Theatre Solo Category, and Maddie 11EBAB for her First Place in the Senior ‘A’ Musical Theatre Solo.
