On Tuesday 27 August, we were fortunate to be visited by the Australian String Quartet (ASQ), who ran workshops with our string students. During the first session, each member of the Quartet worked with a different small ensemble; our Heilig String Quartet, Animato String Quartet, Cello Ensemble and Piano Trio.
At the start of the second session, the ASQ gave a short performance of sections from the first movement of the Greig String Quartet. It was an incredible experience for our string students to be able to witness these professional players up close! The students were then able to ask some questions before the ASQ sat in with our top String Ensemble and rehearsed them through sections of Holst’s St Paul’s Suite.
This was a truly extraordinary experience for our students! Thank you to the Australian String Quartet for taking the time out of their busy schedule to come and visit us.
