Book Week 2024: Reading is Magic

Our inaugural whole-College Book Week Assembly was truly extraordinary. Thank you to everyone who participated and helped make the day a celebration of reading, literature and community connections. Across each of the three library branches there were a number of events and activities for children to participate in during Book Week.

At St John’s Campus there were magic shows, competitions, scavenger hunts, kahoot quizzes and boxes to break into. Students also could do craft activities related to some of the shortlisted books and had fun having photos taken in a themed photo frame.

At the Concordia Campus, our resident magician, Mr Shrowder, wowed us with his slight of hand, and students participated in escape rooms, scavenger hunts, book swaps with hot chocolate, virtual reality experiences and book trivia competitions.

At St Peters Campus, students celebrated shortlisted books with activities including making and playing with gymnastic ribbons - enjoying twirling, spiralling, rolling and spinning - and creating chalk drawings as well as hearing from visiting authors Sally Heinrich, Tania Ingram and Mike Lucas.

Happy reading!
