As we reach the halfway mark of Term 3, it’s a wonderful time to reflect on the exciting learning experiences we’ve enjoyed in Year 3/4 at our St Peters Campus. From engaging author visits and dynamic drama performances to fascinating Olympic stories, our students have been buzzing with curiosity and inspiration.
Author Visit
We were delighted to welcome Tania Ingram, the acclaimed author of the popular book series Jinny & Cooper and Aggie Flea. Tania’s visit was a highlight, as she shared her passion for storytelling and captivated our students with insights into her creative process. Her engaging talk offered valuable tips on narrative writing and provided practical advice on developing characters and crafting compelling plots. Our budding writers left the session inspired and eager to apply their new skills!
Drama Visit
Our Year 3 students recently had the chance to visit the Concordia Campus for a special Middle School drama performance. The Year 8 students created and performed original plays specifically designed for our group. Inspired by the renowned Adelaide company Slingsby Theatre, known for its captivating shadow puppetry and miniature sets, the performances featured imaginative storytelling techniques. Following the show, our students had the opportunity to experiment with shadow puppetry themselves. It was a fun and memorable experience that also helped strengthen our school community across campuses.
Olympic Visit
We were also thrilled to have Andrea Chaplin, an accomplished fencer, visit us to share her incredible experiences from the 1984 and 1988 Olympics. Andrea’s stories about the pride and thrill of representing her country, along with her rigorous training and competition experiences, were truly inspiring. Her visit highlighted the dedication and perseverance required for Olympic success and encouraged our students to set ambitious goals and pursue their passions with determination.
As always, we are grateful for these enriching experiences and the continued support of our school community. These moments not only enhance our students’ education but also foster a love of learning and exploration.
