Congratulations to all those who participated in the inter-school Debating competition this year. Two teams had particularly successful seasons. The Year 9 Blue team continued their grand-final winning form from last year and made it through undefeated to the semifinals again this year, only to lose a close debate about the colonisation of Mars in a split decision from the panel of three adjudicators. The Year 8 Blue team of Amelia 8LTHO, Ilsa 8JCAR, Nevada 8SFOR and Lilah 8JCAR went one step further, winning their semifinal debate on the threat of tourism on the Great Barrier Reef last week, unanimously. The girls are now preparing for the state grand final, to be held at Parliament House on Saturday 21 September. We wish them all the best in their preparation!
