On Friday 30 August, a mix of 55 Year 5 to 9 students from each of our three campuses participated in the 'Write a Book in a Day Competition'.
This was done in teams of six to 10 students, in The Suaviter, beginning at 8am and finishing at 8pm. There were seven groups and students had 12 hours to write and illustrate a digital book from start to finish!
On the day, students were given some parameters and also some random words that needed to be included in their story. Students worked out who would do what and then busied themselves doing it. There were authors, illustrators, editors and organisers, who all worked together. The students were really happy to finally have their creation uploaded and the books are fantastic!
These books will be sent to children’s hospitals around Australia, for sick children to access. These books are also being judged as well.
It was wonderful to see the creativity, teamwork, perseverance, stamina and new friendships made through this cross-campus event.
