Recently in Year 11 Pastoral Care sessions, the students have had the opportunity to choose from a range of study skills electives and life skills electives. The study skills electives included topics such as note-taking, approaching a 'Science as a Human Endeavour' (SHE) task, time management and use of Microsoft Excel. The life skills electives included a presentation on 'How to survive Year 12 and beyond' as well as practical options such as enrolling to vote, how to fill out a passport application form, shoe polishing, sewing on buttons and hemming, and tips for preparing formal cover letters for job or scholarship applications. The 'How to survive Year 12 and beyond' presentation and the sewing elective were particularly popular, with many of the cohort discovering a surprising aptitude for hemming!

These electives support our focus on providing the Year 11s with skills that will not only provide them with a solid foundation for Year 12, but also prepare them for their post-school journeys.
