This term, Year 1 students at our St Peters Campus are investigating simple machines. We have launched off and rolled into readiness by making catapults and marble runs. We have used wedges and incline planes to create these simple machines. We were surprised at how difficult using rubber bands can be, but found sharing ideas and building elaborate marble runs together easy. We are looking forward to using pasta machines, nuts, screwdrivers, hammers, whisks and an old fashioned ice cream maker to really understand simple machines.
