We are delighted to share that two of our Humanities faculty members recently received awards.
Brendan Whatley was awarded a Beginning Teacher’s Encouragement Award from the Unley Rotary Club last week. Brendan was nominated by Vanessa Narino-Terry, who aptly recognised Brendan’s passion for teaching the Humanities, his student-centred approach and his genuine care for the wellbeing of students as a Year 10 Home Class teacher. Brendan is an asset to the Humanities faculty at Concordia and we congratulate him on this wonderful award.
Rick Sommariva (pictured above) was awarded the Outstanding Contribution and Excellence Award for the Legal Education Teachers Association of South Australia (LETASA). Rick's service to this association extends back to 1989 and this is a highly significant award. The faculty is highly appreciative of Rick's expertise and passion for teaching Legal Studies and we thank him for his dedication to engaging students in this important subject.
