In Ancient Egypt, houses were carefully designed to suit the hot, dry climate. Year 7 students learned that most homes were single-storey, made from clay bricks, and had flat roofs for people to sleep on during hot nights. Homes were simple with just one main room and clever ventilation features like doorways and roof vents to keep cool air circulating. Inspired by these designs, the students have created clay models of these ancient houses, showcasing their understanding of Egyptian architecture, the importance of adapting to the environment and using practical designs for comfort and survival.
