Ethics Olympiad

Over 360 teams will take part in Middle School Ethics Olympiad competitions throughout the month of November. Under the guidance of Rory Amoy and Lloyd Oppelaar, our two Year 9 teams have worked to develop their understanding of various ethical frameworks. The rigorous competition tests teams on their ability to engage in critical thinking, communicate clearly and use respectful discourse while exploring ethical dilemmas.

One team won the Gold Medal and our other team received an Honourable Mention. Our Gold Medal team has been invited to participate in the International Final, to be held online in February 2025. At this event, the team will compete with students from countries like India, Hong Kong, China, Singapore, New Zealand, Canada and the US, as well as all the regions of Australia.

  • Concordia Pink (Gold Medal): Adele, Keziah, Jem and Oliver
  • Concordia White (Honourable Mention): Rebecca, Sophie and Zachary

CARE@CC

CARE@CC is a group for students in Years 10–12 who have an interest in health-related careers – medicine, paramedicine, nursing, health research and allied health. We meet fortnightly on a rotating lunchtime to hear from inspiring and encouraging speakers. This group is an asset to those who may be unsure of the pathways they wish to pursue. Students get to hear about a range of careers and specialties that they may not know much about.

Last Friday, we had the privilege of learning from Dr Jennifer Cowie, who shared insights into her remarkable career as a radiologist. Dr Cowie is a Staff Specialist at Benson Radiology, Flinders Medical Centre and a Clinical Associate Lecturer at the University of Adelaide Medical School. Her passionate presentation highlighted the vast opportunities available within the medical field, particularly in radiology, inspiring students to consider this dynamic career pathway.

Dr Cowie was our final guest speaker for 2024. As we look ahead to 2025, we warmly invite members of our Old Concordian community, as well as parents and friends of our College, to consider sharing their expertise during one of our lunchtime sessions. If you are interested in participating, please contact me—we would love to hear from you!

26 Book Challenge

Students who have participated in this year’s Bookopoly 26 Book Challenge must submit their reading record sheet to the library circulation desk as soon as possible. They will receive a golden ticket which grants them entry to our special celebration event. This will be held in the library on Monday 25 November. Our team of Book Council members are already making plans for our 2026 Book Challenge – great things are coming! Prepare yourself for an adventure!
