In Week 6, our Year 3/4 students embarked on an exciting two-night camp at Aldinga Beach. It was a wonderful opportunity for hands-on learning, fostering independence and building teamwork skills in a natural setting.
The camp was packed with activities that connected to our unit of inquiry, while encouraging collaboration and exploration.
- Beach Walk: Students completed a walk from the campsite to Aldinga beach, soaking in the stunning coastal scenery, and appreciating the unique features of our local environment.
- Reef and Rock pool Exploration: With curiosity as their guide, the children explored the marine life inhabiting the rock pools and identified various species.
- Food Chains and Ecosystems: Guided discussions and activities helped students explore how plants, animals and their habitats interact, deepening their understanding of food webs and classifications.
- Team-Building Games: Through cooperative challenges, students developed their communication and problem-solving skills while strengthening bonds with their peers.
- Orienteering: Equipped with maps, the students navigated their way through the Aldinga scrub, combining practical skills with a sense of adventure.
These activities also encouraged students to reflect on the importance of sustainability and responsible interaction with the environment. Students developed deeper appreciation for the natural world and their role in protecting it.
To complement these experiences, our Surf Life Saving sessions last week provided essential water safety skills. Students learned how to stay safe at the beach, recognise hazards, and understand the role of surf lifesavers.
We are incredibly proud of how our Year 3/4 students embraced each challenge with enthusiasm and curiosity. The camp was not only an educational experience but also a chance for the students to grow personally, developing resilience, teamwork and a deeper appreciation for the natural world.
A huge thank you to our dedicated staff and parent volunteers who helped make this camp an unforgettable experience. We look forward to seeing how the lessons learned during this trip will inspire our students in their ongoing learning journeys.
