The Middle School Ethics Olympiad is a prestigious competition that challenges students to think critically, communicate effectively and engage in respectful discourse while navigating complex ethical dilemmas. In 2024, 360 teams took part in this rigorous event, including two Year 9 teams from Concordia College, who dedicated themselves to mastering ethical frameworks and refining their reasoning skills.
Their hard work and commitment paid off, with one team winning the gold medal and the other receiving an Honourable Mention. As one of South Australia’s top-performing teams, our gold medallists earned the honour of competing in the International Finals, which were held yesterday (on Wednesday 19 February 2025).
Reaching the international stage is an outstanding achievement, considering the competition draws hundreds of schools each year. The finals, held online, brought together 46 elite teams from Australia, Singapore, New Zealand, India and Hong Kong. Throughout the event, Concordia students demonstrated intellectual rigour and grace under pressure, representing the College with distinction.
Judges praised all teams for their courteous and respectful approach, noting the exceptional quality of participants, their thoughtful engagement and high levels of ethical reasoning.
As a lasting reminder of their achievement, Concordia’s international finalists will receive a commemorative pin, to be presented at an upcoming Assembly. We are incredibly proud of our brilliant “Eth-letes” and their remarkable success on the global stage!
