Room Marnkutyi (Room 3) have shown a strong interest in and curiosity about insects. The children have engaged in many learning experiences, including observational drawings, graphing, games, songs and imaginary play. To further our inquiry, we borrowed stick insects and ‘Fluffy’ the Flinders Ranges scorpion from the Nature Education Centre. Over the last few weeks, the children have enjoyed observing, investigating and caring for the interesting creatures. We also borrowed information texts from the library and conducted further research into how the scorpion glows in the dark when using a UV light.
