2024 College Musical Dazzles as Dual Casts Shine in 20s-era Stage Show

8 Apr 2024

Our long and strong history of producing excellent music theatre shows continued in 2024 with the College’s Middle and Senior School performances of CHICAGO: High School Edition, featuring a dual cast which offered the opportunity for more students to take on lead roles.

Not only did the musical see around 120 students in the cast, crew and pit band invest countless hours into producing an incredibly high-quality show, but it also served as a vehicle for discussing concepts of fame, celebrity and ‘fake news’, which are highly relevant to Middle and Senior School students.

Reviewer David Smith from the Theatre Association of South Australia was impressed at the standard of the show stating, “… this production was smooth, slick and well coordinated. It was thoroughly entertaining and of a uniformly high standard, a credit to all concerned.” The full review can be found online at The Theatre Association of South Australia website.

The College is proud of the extraordinary production team, and we are also very grateful to the dedicated team of staff and parent volunteers who made this experience possible for our students.

As Drama Coordinator Aldo Longobardi said in his Director’s report, “A school musical is an experience students remember for the rest of their lives. It is also where they make lifelong friends; develop their craft as artists; build communication, ensemble and complex problem-solving skills; and achieve a true sense of belonging to something bigger than themselves.” The 2024 Concordia production of CHICAGO: High School Edition, with all its ‘razzle dazzle’, was truly an experience of this nature.
