Concordia has begun the 2023 school year as a three-campus ELC to Year 12 College following an amalgamation with St Peters Lutheran School, Blackwood, now known as Concordia College - St Peters Campus. The St Peters Campus (ELC-Year 6) at Blackwood joins St John's Campus (ELC-Year 6) and Concordia Campus (Years 7-12) located at Highgate.
While there are many benefits to this new structure, the focus is on the enhanced outcomes it will deliver for student learning. Already, additional specialist subjects in Music, Drama and STEM have been implemented at the two Primary School campuses, with more to be added in the future.
The Head of College, Paul Weinert, outlined some of the key benefits to providing a comprehensive and continuous ELC-12 education. These included giving students opportunities to explore interests and discover new ones as well as fostering a lifelong love of learning. Developing a broader perspective through exposure to a wide-ranging subject offering across the school journey was also highlighted as an additional advantage.
Providing more seamless transitions during critical milestones such as the move from Primary School to Middle School and then Middle School to Senior School is also a core benefit and we are pleased to be able to provide a streamlined educational journey across all year levels.
Paul Weinert also touched on the school's commitment to building a consistent ELC-12 pedagogical focus in 2023.
"This ELC-12 focus will provide an excellent platform to provide consistency of high-quality teaching across all classes for every learner."
With the school year now underway, we look forward to seeing these benefits continue to unfold throughout 2023 and into the future as students at all three campuses enjoy an extraordinary Concordia education.
