Almost 100 members of the Concordia community, including a number of staff and students from both campuses, trekked through the beautiful Barossa Valley on Saturday 1 May, raising funds for Australian Lutheran World Service’s Walk My Way initiative. Participants registered to walk either 13km or the full 26km from Redeemer Lutheran School in Nuriootpa to St Jakobi Lutheran Campus in Lyndoch, raising funds to help children in East Africa to access an education, which is life changing for many.
With every $26 raised supporting one child to attend school for a year, we were delighted to raise over $18,500 as a community, and to contribute to the overall total for the event, which surpassed $215,000. A wonderful opportunity to serve those in need!
Thank you to all who contributed to Concordia’s involvement, either by walking, supervising, donating, assisting with transport or encouraging the team in its endeavours. We are now looking forward to more students getting involved through a Walk Our Way walkathon involving Year 4 and Year 11 students later this month.
